The moment a client decides to book a colour appointment is the moment their experience of your salon begins. It doesn’t start at the reception desk or in the colour consultation — it starts the second they interact with anything that carries your name.

That’s the thinking behind this latest Colourstart Passport update. We’ve focused on making the client journey cleaner, more reassuring, and more clearly yours — right from the very first step.

Your salon, front and centre from the first click

Salons using Colourstart Passport told us the same thing: clients felt uncertain when they received a sign-up link that didn’t immediately look like it came from their salon. That moment of hesitation — “Is this right? Did my salon send this?” — was causing drop-off before the onboarding process had even begun.

Helping a client to their green OK to colour status depends on them completing that journey. So anything that interrupts confidence at the start has a real impact on outcomes for salons and clients alike.

What’s changed — and why it matters

Every salon on Colourstart Passport now has a unique sign-up link and matching QR code. When a client clicks that link, they arrive at a sign-up page that shows your salon name and your logo, alongside Colourstart Passport.

It’s a small visual change with a meaningful effect. Clients immediately recognise the experience as something their salon has set up for them — not a generic third-party platform. That recognition builds the trust needed for them to complete sign-up with confidence.

You can share your unique link however works best for your salon:

And here’s the part that removes work for your team: when a client signs up via your unique link, they are automatically associated with your salon account. Step 1 is already complete before they’ve set foot in the salon.

A welcome that does the explaining for you

Once a client completes sign-up, they now receive a branded welcome email from Colourstart that clearly explains the three-step process — getting the Colourstart test, applying it, and recording the results.

This matters in practice. One of the most time-consuming parts of introducing Colourstart to new clients is explaining what happens next. That explanation now happens automatically, clearly, and consistently — without your team needing to cover it at the chair.

Quicker login for clients who need it

For clients who return to the app after sign-up — or who can’t remember their login details — there is now a Email me a login link option on the sign-up screen. One click, one email, straight back into Passport.

This is particularly useful in the salon environment, where a client might need quick access to their Passport status before a treatment. No password reset process, no frustration, no delay.

More branded invitation emails

If you invite clients directly by email through the Passport dashboard, those invitation emails now display your salon name and logo. The experience is consistent whether a client signs up via your unique link or via a direct invitation — your brand leads, Colourstart supports it.

What this looks like in practice

The Colourstart Passport model has always been built around one principle: salons introduce Passport, and Colourstart does the onboarding work from there.

These updates make that model more powerful. Your role is to share your unique sign-up link — in whatever way fits naturally into your client communications. From that point, Colourstart guides your client through every step needed to reach a green OK to colour status. Clearly. Consistently. In your name.

Less explanation at the chair. Fewer incomplete sign-ups to chase. A more professional, more reassuring experience for every client — even before they arrive.

Built from your feedback

Every feature in this update came directly from feedback from salon owners and their clients. The focus on salon branding, the welcome email, the quick login link — all of it was shaped by what salons told us was getting in the way.

That’s how Colourstart works. The system is built around the realities of a busy professional salon — not a theoretical ideal of how allergy testing should work.
