Patch testing is important and Colourstart provides a clean, convenient and standardised way to screen for potential allergy to one of the chemicals, called p-phenylenediamine (PPD), found in most hair colorants. Colourstart is the only Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) licensed patch test for potential allergy to hair colorant.
Supporting Colourstart is the Passport, the app that helps clients and the community to assess the risk of allergy to hair colour. We have had a great response from people using the Passport with 95% of users successfully initiating the app.
The Passport contains a set of simple questions about a person’s history of using hair colour, and whether they have had any kind of allergic reaction to hair colour in the past. The answers to the questions determine whether they can go ahead and use Colourstart.
